Limitless is a movie about a guy whose life falls apart until he starts taking a pill that makes him smarter basically. Or as the movie puts it I believe – makes you use 100% of your brain instead of the regular 10% (like a toned down version of Lucy) . Interesting concept, but was it any good?
After I was done with my midterms, I had like 3-4 days where I could relax before my regular busier schedule kicked in. I decided to go on a little venture and watch some new movies to enlighten my cinema library. Seeing as I already watched the show, I decided to give the movie a shot, especially because it wasn’t too long – 1h45.
The movie was pretty good. It’s actually set before the TV Show and from what I’m understanding it’s actually related, like it’s actually a sequel to the movie. I think the best thing about the movie was the concept/idea, but because I already watched the TV Show, I wasn’t all that impressed. To me it felt like a promotion for the show, which in a way – it was.
Bradley Cooper against the world
In the movie, Eddie Morra is a writer who takes this drug and becomes super smart and he has like 2 or 3 conflicts with different parties at the same time and by the end – big surprise – comes out victor and even better off than he was before.
The show, on the other hand, is about a dude named Brian (so no Bradley Cooper here) who after taking the pill, helps an FBI agent solve her cases. If I’m being honest, I don’t really remember the show that well since I watched it a couple of years ago, but what I do remember is that I was really “wow-ed” by it – which did not happen with the movie. I binge watched the whole show in like a couple of days and couldn’t stop because it was so absorbing. I was hooked from the first episode.
Now what I’m thinking is that probably the reason for that is that I really should’ve watched the movie first and then the show. So I guess that’s the conclusion for this review that I can’t even really call a review cause I don’t know what this was. Let’s call it my little piece describing my Impression on Limitless.
Watch the movie and then the show.
