TRAVEL
What is travel, really? Is it simply what the dictionary says it is? “A journey to a distant or unfamiliar place”?
In some ways – sure, but what about… the other ways?
Well, what I learned as a fellow explorer is that travel can be whatever you want. Whether it’s getting to know new people, seeing new places, going back to where you came from or maybe you’re going through something and you just want to escape your day-to-day reality.
That’s the beauty of it.
There’s a reason why a lot of young people take a gap year to hit the road. Travel gives you the chance to see the world in a different way. It let’s you rethink reality. Get a new perspective on things. A chance to compare your life to other people’s. To understand what it is you want from life and what is needed to head in that direction.
In truth, travel is so much more than the physical act of going places. It’s not always about the place you visit or the people you see. It’s about the feeling inside your body. It’s about the calmness that it brings your heart. About the peace it brings to your mind that would otherwise be stressed.
Whilst travel literally consists of you “escaping” from your town and visiting some other city or country, it’s also an escape for your soul, for your “energy self” if you know what I mean.
It’s why successful people practice it so much. Both the metaphorical and literal concept of the idea that is travel.
METAPHORICALLY:
It’s very important to realize that sometimes to take a step forward you have to turn right or left. It’s important to change directions. To explore new places and try new things. The biggest, most successful brands in the world experiment non-stop. The most successful people always try new things. Persons like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Logan Paul, Vanessa Hudgens, Will Smith and so on are where they are now because they don’t spend their whole life in the same place (metaphorically).
- Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson: wrestling, acting, voice-acting, singing (Disney – Moana), Youtuber, clothing armor (Under Armour)
- Kevin Hart: comedian, actor, writer, production company (HartBeat Productions);
- Logan Paul: actor (movies, Vine), Youtuber, boxer, singer, podcast host, “Maverick” brand;
- Vanessa Hudgens: actress (Movies, TV Shows), singer, Broadway;
- Will Smith: actor, singer, Youtuber;
LITERALLY:
Travel is what life is all about – changing your surroundings. Your circumstances.
As Grant Cardone says – “If you study wealthy people, they are mercurial. They’re moving, they’re mobile. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates do not talk about the home they live in. They talk about the places they’re going to. They go meet money. They go meet opportunities.”
Of course this “opinion” is subjective in some cases but the overall message is that you that it’s very important to keep moving. Why? Many reasons, but the most important one is that when you remain in the same place for too long you get comfortable and comfort is a dream killer.
That’s why you see all these people in their 40s with a bear belly who all they do is wake up, go to work from 9 to 5, come home, watch “the game”, drink bear and go to sleep. And they do so everyday, every week, month after month. And you cannot achieve anything like this – by watching TV at home all day. By doing the same thing everyday. BY LIVING THE SAME CYCLE EACH DAY.
SO. WHERE DOES THIS LEAVE US?
In a nutshell, travel can be whatever you want it to be. It doesn’t really matter what it represents for you, but, as long as it’s at the right moment in your life, it’s an important step in your path towards greatness.
