First Week of Vegan

So it’s been 1 Week of my Vegan trial. 3 weeks to go.  So far so good. Honestly, until now, just good stuff to say. There is certain stuff that I would like to mention about this experience so far, and I’m going to do so below.

CERTAIN STUFF

So, first of all – VEGAN FOOD:

It ain’t so bad. Honestly I was expecting to have nothing to eat or to struggle to find something other than a dumb vegetable salad to eat, BUT after researching on the internet I found a lot of recipes that include different types of beans (which are surprisingly good including lentils, black beans, red beans, etc), fried vegetables, vegetable stock, potatoes etc.

Most of the recipes are basically this:

  1. Fry oil, garlic and onion in frying pan for 3-5 min.
  2. Add vegetable stock and lentils (or other beans or grain).
  3. Let cook for 10 min.
  4. That’s it.

It’s truly simple to cook this and it does not take much time.

FRIENDLY TIP: Make a 7-day trial for Chris Hemsworth’s Centr (link) app and save some recipes from on there. That’s what I did.🙂

When it comes to snacks I mostly ate fruits, to be more precise – apples and bananas; other than that I tried some new chips from Pringles and Lay’s, but I will no longer consume those since they’re super bad for my health (I’m gonna stick to fruits).

Also I got into honey, jam and especially chestnut jam which has a really nice taste and texture. Only problem with these is that they contain lots of sugar so I’ll try to find something to replace them with.

Second of all – NON VEGAN FOOD:

To be honest, a big part of me turning vegan was me struggling to keep my hands of sweets and candy like M&Ms, KitKats, Chocolate-y pastries, etc. So now that I’m vegan I can’t eat them so that helps too.

When it comes to meat, surprisingly enough I don’t miss it that much. At first I used to miss its consistency, but once I started to include stuff like tofu or potatoes or even certain beans in my meals, I got over it.

I’d like to mention as well that tofu is not as bad as advertised online by a lot of people (of course it varies from person to person). So I do recommend that you give t a try even if you are not vegan, because it contains lots of protein, calcium, iron, so, for short, it’s really healthy.

Next – PHYSICAL HEALTH:

In this department, I can only say that it did help me lose about 2.5 kilos and reach 105kg exactly, although. I assume, that this is mostly because I stopped eating candy which is both partly because of veganism and partly not.

Other than that, I cannot say that it either helped me or did not help me, because it just simply hasn’t been enough time to determine that.

Finally – MENTAL HEALTH:

Now, what I mean by mental health and it being influenced by me being vegan, I mean like how I’ve been feeling about this decision to go vegan.

Honestly, I feel like it was a really good decision on my part, mostly because it’s a new experience and I do feel like this is going to help me get my life straight as it has been doing for the past week. With every gram I lose from my weight, I feel better, because I see real progress, therefore I feel more optimistic about reaching my goal. I see where I’m going and how I’m going to get there. I see the light at the end of the tunnel.

TL DR

For short, this trial-month has been great so far. There isn’t too much to say except that I lost 2.5 kilos (putting me at 105 kg) and I don’t miss meat that much. Also I’ve been feeling great both mentally and physically.
